I'm absolutely loving my time at The Record and the learning opportunities it affords me. At the end of my first week I had the opportunity to shoot Stephen Harper at a Conservative rally in Kitchener. This evening was a lesson in decision making. I made the wrong one!
With another staff photographer there as well as wire photographers I decided not to take a wide lens and go up for when he walked down the small side isle. Instead I decided to get up on a chair on a platform across from where was to enter with a long lens. It would have worked...had I taken into account the giant signs the supporters raised the minute he came in, blocking everything. Now I know.
